Karl and I where very busy working on a new game for a while. The game is called “The Amazing Fix : The Veteran’s House”.
This new game is inspired after the renovation experience I had when I moved to my new house 3 years ago. There was water leaks, high moisture levels, an outdated basement, a ton of junk all around, electricity and plumbing issues, etc. A very memorable experience.
Since I was a big fan of TV shows like “Flip That House” (or “Flip this house”), we decided to create a simple experience around this concept. Some of the challenges required to do a real renovation are observation and planning. I think we found a very simple gameplay mechanics that can work only by moving the mouse and clicking with the left button. The main objective was that the game looks very simple and easy to solve, but it required some training to resolve. It’s more like a renovation puzzle game, some kind of mix between a hidden object game and a “where is Waldo” game.
The Amazing Fix is currently in Beta. We are in the process of finding a sponsorship. When it will be done, the game will be post on the blog and will be free to play.
I’m giving you some screen shots of what it will look (Not actual size, final screen will be larger).
Wednesday I was thinking about my poor knowledge in web development. I told to myself – How can I improved my site? Suddenly I realized that if I can do all these small cool games using flash, maybe I can build up a cool application to put on my new website.
I started browsing the web and I found this very cool code about a Cover Flow effect (sorry it’s in French only and it’s advanced code). This is the same kind of interface you can find on iTunes or your iPhone to browse between your music.
I will try to modify the Flash application to remove the scroll bar at the bottom of the image. When you will move the cursor over an image, the image will give some kind of feedback. I will also try to smooth the transition to the front of an image using an “EaseIn-EaseOut” curve so it will feel less rushed. I found an example over the web to show you how it may work in the end (note : this example is not generated from the source code I will modify).
My goal is to create a new Home page to show sweet dreams and the new game we are building. If I feel inspired I will probably add some kind of live timer over the new game that will show exactly how much time remains before the game came out. Karl and I are very busy right now, so it will probably take a while before you see the final results.
